End-user licence agreement
Version 2.0 · Last updated 1 October 2026
Copyright © 2026 Roberts Ribakovs. All rights reserved.
This agreement is between you and Roberts Ribakovs ("we", "us"), an individual developer in Latvia and the maker of Pairbar ("the Software"). By installing or using Pairbar you agree to it. If you don't agree, don't install or use Pairbar.
In plain language: you get a personal licence to use Pairbar on your own Macs. You're not buying the Software itself, its source code, or the right to share it. Buying, billing, the trial and the Lifetime licence are covered in more detail by the Terms of Sale and Service (https://pairbar.com/legal/terms); this agreement and those terms are meant to say the same thing, and if they ever seem to disagree, the one that's better for you applies.
1. The free trial
You may use Pairbar free of charge for 7 days from the first time it runs on your Mac, to decide whether you want to buy it. When the trial ends, Pairbar locks until you activate a licence. Trying to extend or reset the trial (for example by changing your Mac's clock or removing Pairbar's data) is not allowed.
2. The licence you get
When you buy a plan, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Pairbar:
- for one person: you. A company buying for its staff needs one licence per person who uses Pairbar;
- on up to 3 Macs at a time, all of them yours or used only by you. You can move the licence by deactivating it on one Mac (Settings → Licence → Deactivate this Mac) and activating it on another;
- including for commercial work.
How long the licence lasts depends on the plan:
- Monthly or Yearly subscription: for as long as the subscription runs. It renews automatically until you cancel; after you cancel, it runs to the end of the period you paid for. While it runs, it covers the current version of Pairbar and the updates we publish. When it ends, Pairbar keeps working for a grace period of 14 days, then locks until you subscribe again. Nothing you set up in Pairbar is deleted when it locks.
- Lifetime: perpetual. You may keep using the versions of Pairbar released while Pairbar is sold, and you get the updates we publish for as long as we maintain it. It is not a promise to keep developing or supporting Pairbar for any length of time.
3. What you may not do
You may not, and may not help anyone else to:
- share, sell, rent, lend, publish or give away your licence key, or Pairbar itself (the app, its installer or any part of it);
- use a licence key that wasn't sold to you (or given to you by us);
- remove, disable or get around the licence check, the trial or the activation limit;
- copy, modify, decompile, disassemble or reverse-engineer Pairbar, or make works based on it, except where the law allows this despite this agreement;
- remove copyright or other notices;
- use Pairbar unlawfully, or to break the terms of the services it works with.
4. Activation and the licence check
When you activate a licence, when Pairbar starts, and about once a week afterwards, Pairbar contacts our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, to check the key and whether a subscription is still active. It sends only the key and an anonymous name for your Mac (its model and a random id), as described in the privacy policy (https://pairbar.com/legal/privacy). If a key is refunded, charged back, disabled or found to be shared against this agreement, Pairbar may stop working on the Macs that use it (after a grace period). A subscription that can't be checked for a long time may lock until it can be checked again. A Lifetime licence that can't be checked keeps working.
5. Purchases, taxes and refunds
Pairbar is sold through Lemon Squeezy, who act as the merchant of record: they take the payment, add and pay sales tax or VAT, and issue your receipt. Their buyer terms apply to the purchase itself, including each renewal. Prices are shown at checkout; if a subscription's price changes, the new price applies only from a renewal after you've been told about it. Our refund policy is at https://pairbar.com/legal/refunds; a refunded licence stops working. Nothing in this agreement limits rights you have under consumer law where you live.
6. Other people's software and services
Pairbar works alongside the Claude desktop app and the Codex and ChatGPT desktop apps, and runs command-line tools you install yourself (such as claude, codex, gh and git). Those are made by other companies, under their own terms, and may talk to their own services and use your plans with them. They can change at any time, and a change can stop some or all of Pairbar's features from working; we don't guarantee compatibility with any version of them. Pairbar is not made, endorsed or supported by Anthropic or OpenAI. "Claude", "Claude Code", "Codex" and "ChatGPT" are trademarks of their owners.
Pairbar includes Sparkle (https://sparkle-project.org), used under its own open-source licence (MIT-style), and Yams (MIT). Those licences apply to those components.
7. Ai and agent actions
Pairbar can start chats, send messages and run workflows and helper chats through your own claude and codex tools, on your own plans, as your settings allow or after you approve them. You are responsible for what you start or approve, for the changes it makes to your files, and for any costs on your plans. Their replies come from third-party AI models and can be wrong: check them before you rely on them. Keep backups and use version control.
8. Updates
Pairbar can check for and install updates. Updates are covered by this agreement unless they come with a new one.
9. No warranty
Pairbar is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we give no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be free of errors, fit for a particular purpose, or keep working when the apps it works with change.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or work, arising from using or not being able to use Pairbar. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Pairbar in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited.
11. Ending this agreement
This agreement lasts until it ends. It ends automatically if you seriously break it; then you must stop using Pairbar and delete it. Sections 3, 9, 10 and 12 continue after it ends.
12. General
This agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of Latvia (Rīga) have jurisdiction, except where the consumer law of your country requires otherwise. If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, you keep the mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live: nothing in it affects your statutory rights. If a part of it can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Together with the Terms of Sale and Service it is the whole agreement between you and us about Pairbar. We may update it for future versions; the version that came with your copy applies to that copy.
