Terms of Sale and Service
Version 1.1 · Last updated 1 October 2026
These terms cover buying and using Pairbar, a macOS app. They sit alongside three other documents: the licence agreement (EULA), which covers the software itself; the privacy policy; and the refund policy. If two of them seem to disagree, the one that's better for you applies.
Pairbar is made by Roberts Ribakovs ("we", "us"), an individual developer in Latvia. It's a small, independent product, not a company with a support department, and these terms are written to match that.
1. Who sells it: Lemon Squeezy#
Pairbar is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. That means Lemon Squeezy is the seller in your purchase. It takes the payment, adds and pays sales tax or VAT, issues your receipt and invoices, and handles payment disputes. Its Buyer Terms apply to the purchase itself, and its privacy policy covers what it collects at checkout. We never see your card details.
These terms cover everything else: what you get, how the licence works, and what we do and don't promise.
2. Plans#
There is one product with every feature. You choose how to pay:
- Yearly: a subscription billed once a year.
- Monthly: a subscription billed once a month.
- Lifetime: one payment, for a limited number of buyers only (see section 5).
Current prices are on the pricing page and in the checkout. The price shown in the checkout, with tax, is the price you pay.
Pre-orders#
Before Pairbar's first release (version 1.0), we sell the Lifetime licence as a pre-order: you pay now and get the app when it's released. Subscriptions aren't sold as pre-orders; they start at the release, so you're never billed for a period before there's an app.
- Delivery window. The pricing page and the checkout show the expected release window (for example "October 2026"). It's our honest estimate, not a fixed date. If the page only said "soon", we count the window as ending 30 days after your purchase.
- What you get, and when. Your licence key is emailed when you buy (it's in your Lemon Squeezy receipt). The download link is emailed to the address you bought with when version 1.0 is released.
- Refund before delivery. Ask at any time before the release and you get a full refund, for any reason.
- If the release slips. If version 1.0 isn't released within 60 days after the end of the window shown when you bought, we'll offer you a refund. You can also keep your pre-order.
- After delivery. The usual 14-day refund applies, counted from the day we email you the download.
- The licence. Your licence starts when you buy. Because it's a Lifetime licence it never expires, so nothing is used up while you wait.
3. Subscriptions and billing#
- Auto-renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (a year or a month) and Lemon Squeezy charges the payment method you used, until you cancel.
- Reminders. Lemon Squeezy sends renewal reminders and receipts as its service provides them. We don't promise reminders beyond what it sends.
- Cancel anytime. You can cancel from your Lemon Squeezy customer portal (in Pairbar: Settings → Licence → Manage subscription…) or by emailing us. Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Cancelling doesn't refund the current period; the refund policy says when you can get money back.
- Failed payments. If a renewal can't be charged, Lemon Squeezy retries for a while. If it still fails, the subscription ends.
- When a subscription ends, Pairbar keeps working for a short grace period (currently 14 days), then locks until you subscribe again. Nothing you set up in Pairbar is deleted.
- Price changes. We may change prices. A new price never applies to a period you've already paid for: it applies only from your next renewal, and only after you've been told at least 30 days before that renewal, by email or in the app. If you don't want to pay the new price, cancel before the renewal.
- Launch discount. During the launch, the code
LAUNCHlowers the first payment of a yearly subscription. Renewals are at the regular yearly price. The discount ends when we end the launch; it can't be added to an order afterwards or combined with other codes unless the checkout allows it.
4. The free trial#
Pairbar has a 7-day free trial, inside the app, with every feature. It starts the first time you open Pairbar. You don't enter payment details and nothing is charged; when it ends, Pairbar locks until you buy a plan. One trial per person. Trying to reset or extend it (for example by changing your Mac's clock) isn't allowed.
5. Lifetime licence#
A Lifetime licence is a single payment instead of a subscription. In plain terms:
- What you get. A perpetual licence to use the versions of Pairbar released while Pairbar is sold, on the same terms as any other licence (section 6). It doesn't expire and doesn't renew.
- Updates. You get updates for as long as we maintain Pairbar. "Lifetime" means the lifetime of your licence, not a promise that Pairbar will be developed or supported forever, and not the lifetime of a person.
- Availability. Lifetime is offered to the first 200 buyers only, and only while it's shown on the pricing page. We may stop offering it earlier. Before the first release it's sold as a pre-order (see "Pre-orders" in section 2).
- No obligation to keep developing. We intend to keep improving Pairbar, but we can't promise how long. We may stop maintaining it at any time.
- If Pairbar is discontinued. Pairbar is designed so that a Lifetime licence that has been activated keeps working even when the licence server can't be reached: a check that can't get through never locks a Lifetime licence. If we stop selling Pairbar, we'll aim to publish a final update that no longer needs licence checks at all, so Lifetime copies keep working as they are, as far as macOS and the apps Pairbar works with allow. Activating Pairbar on a new Mac may stop being possible once the store is closed.
6. Your licence#
When you buy a plan you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Pairbar, as set out in the EULA:
- One person. A licence is for one person. A company buying for staff needs one licence per person who uses Pairbar.
- Up to 3 Macs that are yours or used only by you, at the same time. You can move a licence by deactivating it on one Mac (Settings → Licence → Deactivate this Mac…) and activating it on another. If you've lost access to a Mac, email us and we'll free its activation.
- Commercial use is fine: use Pairbar for paid work.
- Licence checks. Pairbar checks its licence key with Lemon Squeezy now and then (the privacy policy says exactly what's sent). A subscription that can't be checked for a long time may lock until it's back online.
- Not allowed: sharing or reselling your key, getting around the trial, the licence check or the activation limit, or the other things listed in the EULA.
7. Acceptable use#
Use Pairbar lawfully and only on your own Macs and accounts. Don't use it to break the terms of the services it works with (such as your Claude or ChatGPT plan), to access other people's accounts or data without permission, or to harm or overload any service. Don't try to break into pairbar.com or its backend, or abuse its activation or email features (for example by sending activation emails to people who didn't ask for them).
8. Apps and services made by others#
Pairbar works alongside other companies' software: the Claude desktop app and Claude Code (by Anthropic), the Codex and ChatGPT desktop apps and the Codex command-line tool (by OpenAI), and tools such as git and gh.
- No affiliation. Pairbar isn't made, endorsed or supported by Anthropic or OpenAI. Claude, Claude Code, Codex and ChatGPT are trademarks of their owners; we use the names only to say what Pairbar works with.
- They can change at any time. Those apps, their command-line tools and their file formats change without notice to us. An update to any of them can break some or all of Pairbar's features, temporarily or for good. We'll try to adapt when that happens, but we don't guarantee compatibility with any version of them, or that a feature will keep working, or how quickly we can fix it.
- Their terms apply. You need your own accounts and plans with those companies, and your use of them is under their terms and policies, not ours.
9. AI and agent actions#
Some of Pairbar's features act through the Claude and Codex tools on your Mac:
- Pairbar can start chats, send follow-up messages, run scheduled workflows and run helper chats that other chats ask for. They run through your own
claudeandcodextools, on your own plans, and count toward your plan's usage and any costs that come with it. - You decide what runs. Agent actions run only as your settings allow or after you approve them, and you can pause or stop them at any time. You're responsible for what you start or approve, for the commands and changes it makes in your projects, and for your plan costs. Keep backups and use version control.
- Replies, reviews and other outputs come from third-party AI models. They can be wrong, incomplete or unsafe. Check them before relying on them. We don't control those models and aren't responsible for what they produce.
10. Support#
Support is by email at support@pairbar.com. We usually reply within 2 business days, but we can't guarantee a response time. The support page has help with licences, refunds and known issues.
11. No warranty#
Pairbar is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises, express or implied, that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, fit for a particular purpose, or keep working with the apps and services it depends on. We don't promise any level of uptime for pairbar.com, the licence server, activation emails or the update feed.
12. Limitation of liability#
To the extent the law allows:
- we're not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits, revenue or work, arising from using or not being able to use Pairbar, even if we were told they might happen;
- our total liability for any claim about Pairbar is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
13. Ending your licence#
You can stop using Pairbar at any time; cancel your subscription to stop future payments. We may end your licence if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or the EULA (for example by sharing your key); where it's reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix it. A licence also ends when it's refunded or charged back. When it ends you must stop using Pairbar. Sections 8, 9, 11, 12 and 15 continue to apply.
14. Changes to these terms#
We may update these terms, for example when we change plans or the law changes. The current version is always at pairbar.com/legal/terms, with its version number and date, and changes are listed at the bottom of this page. For a change that matters to you, we'll tell you in advance (by email or in the app) and it applies from your next renewal or purchase. A change never takes away what you've already paid for, such as the period you've paid or the Lifetime licence you bought.
15. Law, disputes and your rights#
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia, and the courts of Latvia (Rīga) have jurisdiction, unless the consumer law of the country you live in says otherwise. If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, you keep the mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live, and you can also bring a claim there: nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
16. Contact#
